Angela Adams grew up on an island twelve miles off the coast of Maine. This unusual upbringing helped to shape her unique perspective on design. Fashions and styles come and go on the mainland, but on the island the decades seem to linger. Angela Adams rug designs are known for their sense of timelessness, simplicity and balance. All designs are inspired by the natural beauty of life off the coast of Maine.

Early in her design career, Angela Adams worked as a decorative painter. As her business grew, she sought an alternative medium for her expanding design repertoire. Rugs were a natural choice due to the Maine legacy of hand made textiles and floor coverings. Angela Adams fell in love with the process of hand tufting, a technique that she reinvented to fit her own aesthetic.

Inspired by the versatility of this new medium, Angela Adams edited her rugs patterns. She simplified and translated them into textural landscapes. Hand tufted and sheared into undulating patterns, her rugs became masterfully crafted works of art. This innovative approach and her dynamic patterns helped to quickly establish her as a leader in contemporary design.

In 2002 the furniture line designed by fellow Mainer and husband Sherwood Hamill was added to the mix. Sherwood's furniture is an innovative adaptation of modern design, inspired by his interest in structural design. Pieces such as the Mod Pod and C-Bird Sidecase integrate themselves perfectly into the angela adams aesthetic. Each piece of Sherwood's furniture is handcrafted, solidly built and designed for life.

Angela Adams is constantly exploring new mediums for her designs. An affordable alternative to the Collection rugs, a retail rug line now places Angela's signature patterns and style into more homes. Expanding beyond style for the home and into fashion, a collection of handbags was introduced in 2003. Recent product additions through partnerships with Shaw Contract Group, Architex, Ann Sacks and Chronicle Books include broadloom & carpet tile, woven fabrics, ceramic tiles and stationery. Bedding has also recently been added to the offering at angela adams. Angela continues to combine quality and integrity as she expands her collection to create a design-inspired lifestyle.
