DIY Recipe for Naturally Straight, Shiny Hair
If you’re tired of dealing with frizzy or wavy hair and are searching for a natural way to permanently straighten your locks, you’re in the right place.
This DIY recipe offers a chemical-free solution for sleek, smooth hair using simple ingredients straight from your kitchen.
Say goodbye to expensive salon treatments and damaging heat tools - with this method, you’ll achieve straight hair that lasts, all while nourishing and protecting your strands.
Here’s how you can create and use this easy homemade hair straightening recipe.
Ingredients
Coconut Milk: 1 cup
Extra Virgin Olive Oil: 2 tablespoons
Juice of One Fresh Lemon or Lime: 4 tablespoons
Cornstarch: 3 tablespoons
Direction
Start by pouring coconut milk and olive oil into a saucepan, stirring until you get a smooth consistency. In a separate bowl, combine cornstarch and fresh lemon juice, whisking thoroughly to eliminate any lumps.
Begin with a few tablespoons of cornstarch but keep the full amount on hand in case you need more for thickening.
Slowly whisk the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan containing the coconut milk and olive oil.
Place the saucepan over medium heat and continue whisking. As the mixture heats, the cornstarch will activate, thickening the liquid to a conditioner-like consistency.
Keep whisking until the texture is smooth and thick.
Apply the mixture generously to small sections of your hair, ensuring each strand is well-coated.
This method ensures the treatment penetrates evenly throughout your hair, providing maximum benefit.
Once applied, cover your hair with a shower cap and sit under a hood dryer.
If you don't have a hood dryer, heat a towel in the microwave by placing it in a bowl of water. Wrap the warmed towel around your capped hair for 30 minutes to let the mixture work its magic.
After the treatment, shampoo your hair as usual, then follow up with a deep conditioning treatment. Place your hair in a shower cap again, set it with large rollers, and sit next to the dryer.
If preferred, you can allow your hair to air dry naturally.
For the smoothest result, consider using a flat iron, but don’t forget to apply heat protection beforehand.
This will help lock in the sleek, smooth finish while protecting your hair from heat damage.
